This way we can develop a shared helper crate for Canary desktop apps among all the different desktop widgets we're going to make eventually.

I changed my mind. There is zero need to make a separate repository, and this will only complicate dependencies on the base repository. It is not resource-intensive to clone a few extra kilobytes of Rust code for the extra widget crates.
