Despite common belief, authoritarian and autocratic states (ie. states classified as undemocratic systems) fare poorly on economic indicators

  • Rizio et al. 19 (cited) (non-paywall)
    • Analyzed the governments of 133 countries between 1858 to 2010
    • Found that autocrats were either damaging or inconsequential for the economy of their countries.
